If you miss one tablet
The UK label says to skip a missed Wegovy tablet and take the next dose the following day. Do not take an extra tablet to make up for the missed one. The five-day missed-dose rule linked with weekly semaglutide injections does not apply to the daily tablet.
Take the next tablet with the usual fasting, water and waiting routine. A missed day is no reason to take the next dose with food or to combine two strengths. If you are unsure whether you took a tablet, ask the pharmacist. Do not take a second dose to be safe.
After a longer break
The simple missed-dose rule does not answer every question after a long interruption. Your previous strength, the length of the break, why you stopped and how well you tolerated the medicine all count. Ask for a restart plan before you go back to a high strength after a long gap.
If the break followed suspected pancreatitis, an allergic reaction, pregnancy or another serious medical event, restarting is a clinical decision. Settled symptoms or tablets left in the pack do not make restarting safe.
Keep a record so doubt never becomes a double dose
Record doses you have taken, beyond doses you plan to take. Keep one pack in use, check its strength and mark a diary as soon as you swallow the tablet. If several people help with your medicines, agree who records each dose so two people never both give one.
If you have taken an extra dose by mistake, contact a pharmacist, the prescribing service or NHS 111 promptly for advice. Have the product, strength, amount and rough times to hand. Call for emergency help if someone passes out, has severe allergic symptoms or faces another immediate emergency. Do not wait for a routine reply.
Use the reason for the gap
Missing doses again and again suggests the routine does not fit your day. A gap in supply points to an unclear review process or ordering deadline. Skipping doses because of side effects shows your tolerance needs attention. Solve each of these with the prescriber, and do not hide the pattern.
Do not stretch a prescription by taking a tablet every other day unless the prescriber has given you a plan for this. A changed schedule makes your response and side effects harder to judge. If cost or supply makes the prescribed regimen impossible, ask about an option you are able to sustain.
If you miss a pack because a delivery failed, tell the service before the next prescription goes out. The clinician needs the dates of the gap, and the pharmacy needs to check the replacement strength still suits you. A late parcel should never become a silent restart based on whichever tablets turn up.
Questions for your appointment
Tell the team the date and strength of your last confirmed dose and why you stopped. Ask for a written restart instruction and a clear date for the next dose increase. The original calendar may no longer apply.
