Switzerland allows one month of medicine for personal use
Swissmedic says you may bring up to one month of non-narcotic medicine for your own use. The amount is based on the prescribed dose or the package instructions. The allowance covers you alone. You cannot import for friends or resell. Some other countries allow three months, so do not apply their rule here. Read the official guidance before you buy or pack a larger supply.
Swissmedic approval differs from EU approval
Check the product with Swissmedic and ask a Swiss pharmacist to find the right product information. An EMA authorisation does not count as a Swiss authorisation. The personal import allowance tells you nothing about a seller's quality or whether a product suits you. Treat each of these as its own question for Mounjaro, Wegovy injections, oral Wegovy or Foundayo.
Plan longer stays with a Swiss clinician
If your stay will outlast the amount you are allowed to bring, contact a local clinician early. Ask which treatment records they need, whether they will prescribe your medicine and how local supply works. Do not plan to cover a long stay with repeat parcels under a rule you have not checked. Bring a treatment summary with your exact dose and the date of your last dose.
Costs, border crossings and storage
Ask for the consultation fee, the medicine price and any reimbursement conditions before you start. If you cross into neighbouring countries, check each border's rules. The most generous allowance does not cover the whole trip. Plan storage for your medicine and device. Mountain cold and hot cars each bring their own risks. Keep the packaging and dispensing records so a pharmacist can judge any storage problem.
Check the product with Swissmedic before you buy
Confirm the exact product and its approved use with Swissmedic before buying Mounjaro, Wegovy injection, Wegovy tablets or Foundayo. Approval, clinical suitability, reimbursement, stock and import permission each need their own check.
- Ask a Swiss clinician which product suits you and whether your treatment history is enough for an assessment.
- Get the full cost in writing, covering consultations, dispensing and delivery, before you sign up to ongoing treatment.
- Keep the original packaging, the prescription and the dispensing record. Show any damaged parcel or medicine with an unclear storage history to a pharmacist before you use it.
