Check Fimea's medicine information

Fimea, Finland's medicines authority, gives access to national product information. Confirm the ingredient, formulation and presentation of the medicine you are considering. A broad claim of semaglutide availability does not identify the exact product or indication. Ask the pharmacist which current leaflet applies, especially if an oral treatment is promoted with a launch announcement from another country.

Ask how your prescription will be handled

Before a pharmacy visit, ask which prescription documents the pharmacy accepts and whether staff can access an electronic prescription from your home system. Cross-border digital services do not work for every country or patient. Carry a readable medicine list and your original prescription documents. If a local clinician needs to write a new prescription, allow time for an assessment and any records they need.

Confirm payment separately

Ask the relevant payer about the exact product and your reason for treatment. Public reimbursement and private cover are separate from authorisation and may need different evidence. If you pay yourself, get the total cost of medicine and follow-up, including any consultation or dispensing fee. Check how the service handles supply gaps and whether you can recover your records and cancel recurring charges if treatment stops.

Allow for climate and distance

For long drives or remote accommodation, discuss storage and access to replacement treatment before you set off. Cold outdoor conditions are no guarantee of safe storage, and a pen may freeze. Keep products in their labelled packaging and do not move them into unmarked containers. If the medicine has been exposed to uncertain conditions, ask the supplying pharmacist to assess the medicine before use.

Before you buy in Finland

Check the current product information with Fimea before you buy. Confirm the exact product and indication for Mounjaro, Wegovy injection, Wegovy tablets or Foundayo. Approval, prescription, payment, stock and personal import permission each need a separate decision in Finland.

  • Ask a clinician in Finland which product suits you and whether your existing treatment history is enough for an assessment.
  • Find out the whole cost, including consultations, dispensing and delivery, before you agree to ongoing treatment.
  • Keep the original packaging, the prescription and the dispensing record. If a parcel is damaged or storage uncertain, ask the pharmacist before using the medicine.

Your own medicine leaflet and prescriber come first. A source from another country does not mean the same rule applies in the UK.
