Taking Foundayo with food does not prevent symptoms
You take Foundayo with or without food. If symptoms seem linked to meals, note the meal size and timing. Do not assume the tablet needs an empty stomach. The Wegovy pill fasting routine has no place in Foundayo treatment.
The UK label reports more nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea while the dose goes up, easing over time. This is a trend across trial groups. A severe symptom will not always settle if you ignore it. If a dose increase was hard, talk to the prescriber before the next one.
Where self-care stops
Foundayo slows stomach emptying, and the label advises caution in severe gastrointestinal disease. The label also warns vomiting and diarrhoea cause fluid loss and a decline in kidney function. Keeping up your fluids matters as much as easing the discomfort.
With severe digestive symptoms, a clinician may need to lower the dose or stop treatment. Do not keep adding over-the-counter products to hold back a worsening pattern without an assessment. Take extra care if abdominal pain, vomiting or a swollen abdomen comes with constipation.
What to note before a review
Smaller, slower meals tend to be easier when your appetite drops. Do not force a large meal because the portion once felt normal. If a rich or greasy meal makes symptoms worse every time, record the pattern and choose something gentler while you get advice.
Drink regularly in amounts you manage. If sickness stops you drinking normally, ask a pharmacist or clinician whether an oral rehydration product suits you. A prescribed fluid limit, or serious kidney or heart disease, calls for advice for your own case in place of a general daily fluid target.
When to get urgent care
Severe abdominal pain which persists, above all with pain moving towards your back, needs urgent assessment. Repeated vomiting, being unable to keep fluids down, feeling faint, confusion or passing little urine need prompt help too. A painful swollen abdomen with vomiting, or being unable to pass wind, is no ordinary constipation.
For milder problems which drag on, contact the prescriber before you change the dose. Explain the effect on eating, drinking, sleep and work. A dose you tolerate for the long term does more for you than a quick rise to a higher dose followed by stopping because symptoms became too much.
For constipation which lasts, a pharmacist will suggest a treatment after checking your symptoms and other medicines. A sudden rise in fibre does not suit everyone with bloating or marked digestive symptoms. Avoid one-size remedies when pain, vomiting or being unable to pass wind point to an assessment first.
Questions for your appointment
Ask whether your symptoms call for a dose review, and whether another medicine or illness plays a part. Mention any drop in urine, dizziness or trouble keeping up your fluids, so the team checks your dehydration risk straight away.
