Start with the SFDA and the exact product
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) is the official source for questions about a medicine's status. Ask a local clinician or pharmacist to name the exact registered product, formulation and approved information. An overseas announcement about Wegovy tablets or Foundayo does not mean they are authorised in Saudi Arabia. The same goes for a social media offer using an international brand name. Ask for the local product and dispensing details before you consider buying.
Controlled-drug clearance covers narcotic and psychotropic medicines
The SFDA runs a clearance system for travellers carrying narcotic or psychotropic medicines. This system says nothing about whether semaglutide, tirzepatide or orforglipron is controlled. Check the classification of each medicine you carry and the rule for it. If your other prescriptions include controlled medicines, check those on their own terms. Ask the SFDA if you are unsure about an active ingredient or the paperwork.
Prepare for pilgrimage or a long stay
Agree a clear treatment plan before you travel, with documents showing the medicine, dose and duration. Talk through the physical demands of the trip with your clinician, including where to get care if you become unwell. Do not change your treatment to fit a luggage allowance. If you might need a local refill, find a suitable clinical service in advance. A last-minute online purchase is a poor fallback.
Check payment and handling
Find out whether a local consultation and medicine will be covered by insurance or paid privately, and ask for an itemised quote. Ask the dispensing pharmacist about transport and storage for your exact presentation, including airport and road transfers. Keep the original packaging and supply record. If you travel on from Saudi Arabia, check the next country's rules too. Entry permission and a prescription in one country do not give you an import allowance in another.
Confirm the product with the SFDA before you buy
Check the exact product and its approved use with the SFDA before buying Mounjaro, Wegovy injection, Wegovy tablets or Foundayo. Registration, clinical suitability, insurance, stock and travel permission are each a separate check.
- Ask a clinician in Saudi Arabia which product suits you and whether your treatment history is enough for an assessment.
- Get the complete price, including consultations, dispensing and delivery, before you agree to ongoing treatment.
- Keep the packaging, prescription and dispensing record. Ask the pharmacist to look at any damaged parcel or medicine with an unclear storage history first.

Your own medicine leaflet and prescriber come first. A source from another country does not mean the same rule applies in the UK.
